Exam Dates
The ABMGG examinations will be given on the following dates:
- Monday, August 11, 2025 – Clinical/Medical Biochemical Genetics
- Tuesday, August 12, 2025 – Clinical Genetics and Genomics
- Wednesday, August 13, 2025 – General
- Thursday, August 14, 2025 – Laboratory Genetics and Genomics
Deadlines
The general application must be submitted by November 30, 2024. Applications submitted between December 1, 2024, and January 31, 2025, will incur a late fee of $400. The application will close on January 31, 2025. No applications will be accepted after the deadline.
Applicants will be able to view the progress of their application and review decisions on their portal profile page. Applicants should send any required hardcopy materials to:

Fees
Review Fees
- Application for one specialty – $775
- Application for two specialties – $825
- Application for re-examinees – $525
Examination Fees
- General Exam – $1,050
- Specialty and subspecialty exam – $1,175
*Note: Diplomates who are adding a specialty do not have to retake the general exam
Additional Fees
- International testing site fee (per exam) – $550
- Late fee – $400
- Request for appeal – $300
ACH/Credit Card
Applicants will pay all fees at the time of submission of the application via ACH or credit/debit card. For credit/debit card payments, a 3% card processing fee will be added. Payments by ACH will not be subject to any additional fee.
Withdrawal and Refunds
Candidates who withdraw their application before active candidate status has been granted and before March 31, 2025, will receive a refund of all fees. Candidates who withdraw after active candidate status has been granted and before June 15, 2025, will receive a refund of examination fees only. Applicants who withdraw after June 15, 2025, or after scheduling a testing appointment will forfeit all fees and must cancel testing appointments.
Applicants must notify the ABMGG of the withdrawal in writing to abmgg@abmgg.org. All refunds are subject to a $250 administrative processing fee.
